Mobility Dogs 2023 - Event Review

Given the terrible forecast and howling winds we were delighted by the turn out of hearty souls for the event. Although not surpassing our fundraising target the day was nevertheless a success.

We altered the route to avoid the worst of the conditions. Selecting a circuit departing UB Kiosk (Tawa) we took shelter via SH1, SH2, SH58 and SH59 with a short stop to regroup and pose for the obligatory ride photo (Motukaraka Point). The ride returned to The Borough (Tawa) for prize draws and thank you speeches.

We were pleased to be joined on the day by Heather and her lovely assistance dog Yale for the 'after match' where we learned just how life changing a mobility dog can be. Heather explained how only a couple of years prior she lacked the confidence to leave home much, attend such an event, let alone speak publicly.

We were grateful for the generosity shown by riders, donors and our fantastic sponsors (Crownkiwi, Eurobike, Peak Moto and The Borough) for this ride. Despite the challenges we raised just shy of $2k for Mobility Dogs. In addition, a big shout out to our wonderful volunteers including our amazing photographer @kowaimote (Taylor) who has made the images from this photo link available free of charge.

On behalf of Mobility Dogs thankyou all so much for making this such worthwhile & enjoyable day. And if you missed the event it's not too late to donate direct to Mobility Dogs NZ

Ngā mihi

Delia & Mike
