Like so many bikers, at URBANBIKER NZ we are crazy about dogs! Both dogs and bikes bring this community together and make for a perfect combination. So much of what Mobility Dogs does resonates with the biking community who are out supporting charity rides in the weekends showing care and compassion for animals and humans alike. It’s just what this community does. UB is proud to be part of this community supporting Mobility Dogs mission” to enhance the lives of people living with disabilities, increasing independence, confidence, self-esteem and participation in New Zealand communities”.
We know that whether you are born with a disability or acquire one through an accident, life can get pretty lonely, but a Mobility Dog can change that and open up new opportunity for connection and friendship. Mobility Dogs also run some amazing programmes, such as, 'Puppies in Prison' where prisoners develop new skills and build their self-esteem while training pups to become Mobility Dogs. This programme pairs the prisoners with dogs that they train to become fully-qualified Mobility Dogs. The relationship that develops between the trainer and the dog is life changing.
We love what Mobility Dogs do and hope motorbike lovers out there will too. Please join us on a ride to help enrich the lives of those who would most benefit from a mobility dog’s unconditional love, loyalty and support.
Update
We have put together an online registrations system (sign up above) with all fees lodged directly with Mobility Dogs via their website (see registration link below). Patches will be available for sale on the day and we will have volunteers to deal with any last minute registrations.
In other news we will be joined by some pups who are making someone’s life better everyday. We have also secured a number of amazing prizes for the event through suppliers and contacts to be raffled and auctioned on the day.
The day will start off at the Kiosk with some bbq delights from 9.30am. So please act now and register online so we can ensure we have enough sausages, onions and patches to kick off a great ride.
